Clasp prosthesis

A partial denture is a removable version of a partial denture that is attached to healthy teeth using metal connectors.
If there are edentulous areas on both sides of the upper or lower jaw, the individual parts of the partial denture are connected through a so-called "palatal connector" to improve stability.

This option belongs to the group of removable dentures and is also called a model cast denture, since the base and brackets (clasps) are made of metal.
A prerequisite for a partial denture is, of course, the presence of stable teeth to which the dentures can be attached. These can be your own remaining teeth or dentures that are firmly fixed in the bone using dental implants, that is, artificial tooth roots. If the jaw is completely edentulous, complete dentures are usually considered.
Clamp-on dentures are often chosen for cost reasons, as they are the least expensive type of restoration. As permanent partial dentures, they are still used today but are no longer standard. As dental technology and dentistry are constantly evolving, there are now many alternatives to traditional treatment, both in terms of denture type, design and materials.
The base of the prosthesis, consisting of a frame for artificial teeth and fastening elements, is cast from metal in a dental laboratory in accordance with the dimensions and data of the patient.
In the case of a partial maxillary denture, the base may be in the form of a plate (palate plate), while in the case of a mandibular denture, it is usually in the shape of a stirrup or horseshoe.
